My early years were spent growing up in Bountiful, Utah, but we moved to Ohio when I was seven years old. I spent the rest of my growing up years and into adulthood residing in "the Heart of it all." I am happy to be back in Utah, but I consider both states “home.” I have always loved art and that has always been my main talent. My Dad was a professional artist and I wanted to follow in his footsteps. I went to Utah State University and earned my Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree, where I was fortunate to learn drawing, figure drawing, and oil painting from some incredible instructors. Afterward, I worked as an Illustrator at a few advertising art studios. During these years, I was blessed to work side by side with my amazing and talented Father, helping him with many children’s books and magazine illustrations. While raising my own two children it became time to send them to school. I didn’t want to be too far from them, so I would often volunteer in their classrooms. I felt strongly that it was important for children to study art in school. Consequently, I began to volunteer teaching art to all the students in our elementary school. After a few years of volunteer work, I was hired as the art teacher and I have been teaching art ever since. I love working with children and the opportunity to teach something that I am passionate about. I am so grateful for the opportunity to be here at Scholar, especially the new adventure of teaching the junior high art classes. I am thoroughly enjoying being an OWL!
